Discovering novel functions for genes involved in cancer metabol

As a physician scientist, I am interested in elucidating the mechanism behind disease pathogenesis. To continue the dialogue between the bench and bedside, I see patients on regular bases as a geneticist. These patients have direct relevance to my research, as my group studies the metabolic consequences of different genes alterations and their contribution to the disease state.

The complete translational cycle starts by identifying an intriguing problem in the patient, generating the relevant animal model to gain insight and translate the findings to improve patients’ care.

In the future, the continuation of my cross talk between the patients and the bench will undoubtedly result in new directions for my lab.
