Opportunities

Those seeking financial support for projects that fall within the scientific scope of the center, are invited to contact Oded Aharonson for additional information and instructions.

We are currently looking to recruit talented graduate students on the Master's and PhD level, as well as Postdoctoral scholars. Below are specific position announcements.

Post-Doctoral Prize Fellowship
We invite highly qualified candidates to apply for The Helen Kimmel Center for Planetary Science Prize Postdoctoral Fellowship.

The center fellows conduct independent research as part of the planetary science group at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. Fellows can pursue research in theoretical, numerical, observational or experimental planetary science (including exoplanets), and have full access to all the resources available to the planetary science and astrophysics groups, including full membership in the Palomar Transient Factory (PTF) collaboration, the proposed UltraSat UV space mission, several well-equipped wet chemistry laboratories, state-of-the-art analytical and imaging facilities and extensive high-performance computational facilities. Fellows are expected to collaborate with faculty members, working on planetary geophysics, geomorphology and exo-planet searches (Aharonson), planetary atmospheric dynamics (Kaspi), planetary geochemistry (Halevy) and small bodies in the solar system (Ofek). The group works in close collaboration with the astrophysics group (e.g., Gal-Yam, Waxman).

The Weizmann Institute Campus is located in Rehovot, a short distance from Tel Aviv, and offers excellent conditions for research in an international setting, a strong focus on research excellence, and on-campus lodging. The fellowship provides an annual research allowance of $5,000 for fellows to support discretionary research expenses, as well as additional research and travel funds as appropriate.

Employment benefits are as detailed by the Feinberg Graduate School postdoctoral fellowship program. Prize fellowship holders will receive additional assistance with living expenses. Candidates should email application material, including a summary of previous achievements and proposed research (2 pages), a CV, and have at least three reference letters send to: Oded.Aharonson@weizmann.ac.il
