This PhD project is a part of a large collaborative Industrial Partnership Programme between AMOLF, Wageningen University, University of Amsterdam and Unilever Research, entitled Hybrid soft materials: from physical mechanisms to designer products. The overall goal of the programme is to understand the physics of the assembly and visco-elastic properties of hybrid networks, consisting of mixtures of stiff and soft elements, which leads to the rich and complex multiscale physics that characterize real food products. The understanding of the design principles and the relation between the molecular, microscopic and mechanical properties of hybrid networks will be used in the design of new, improved systems, in particular new food products.

We are looking for individuals with a background in NMR spectroscopy and motivation to engage in projects at the interface of plant and soil biogeochemistry, including development of new isotopomer methods for estimating biogeochemical fluxes on centennial timescales, a key unknown in Earth System Models. The successful candidates will work in a collaboration environment  between soil sciences, tree physiology and biophysics.

A PhD studentship position is open at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), School of Biological Sciences, in a team headed by Prof Lars Nordenskiöld (http://www.sbs.ntu.edu.sg/aboutus/Faculty/LarsNor/Pages/Home.aspx) in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Konstantin Pervushin at the same department (http://www.sbs.ntu.edu.sg/aboutus/Faculty/kpervushin/Pages/Home.aspx).

The successful candidate will work in a stimulating scientific environment, collaborating with research groups from varied scientific disciplines on applications of NMR.

Qualifications

A PhD graduate student position is available applying NMR relaxation, diffusion, imaging (MRI) and velocimetry measurements  of fluorinated gases and liquids to study energy transport and storage in porous media. The research will combine experiment and theory including numerical simulations. This is a fully funded graduate research position on a U.S. National Science Foundation funded project in the MR Lab Dept.

The University of Delaware invites applications from senior researchers (tenured Associate or Full Professor rank) for the position of Director of a new Multimodal Imaging Center that will open during the 2015-2016 academic year. The UD Multimodal Imaging Center will be a core research facility, serving scientists throughout the University. At the heart of the center will be a Siemens 3T Magnetom Prisma scanner. Applicants for this position must have earned a Ph.D. and an internationally recognized, well-funded program of research.

An opening is available at the University of Florence for a post-doctoral grant or "assegno di ricerca", funded by the INDIGO Datacloud project. INDIGO is an EC-funded project focused on the development of cloud-based technologies for scientific research. Within INDIGO, the Florence reserch team represents the Life Sciences, and specifically Structural Biology, research community. Our role in the project is broadly defined as the development of molecular dynamics (MD) applications based on INDIGO technologies. The inclusion of MD applications based on GPU systems is also planned.

A PhD positions position is available in the field of NMR characterization of membrane protein structure and function. The positions will be part of the research group of Manuel Etzkorn at the University of Duesseldorf, Germany.

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral position at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) at the University of Montreal under the supervision of Dr Katherine Borden to work on structural studies by solution state NMR of novel RNA processing proteins involved in cancer. The successful candidate will have completed their PhD studies within the last two years, or are about to complete their PhD and have experience in expression and cloning of recombinant proteins as well as protein NMR.

Reporting to the Director of the University of Guelph NMR Centre, the NMR Centre Manager will oversee all aspects of the operation of the Centre which includes six Bruker NMR spectrometers operating at 800, 600 (2), 500, 400, and 300 MHz capable of both solution and solid-state NMR work, and a 600 MHz/395 GHz Dynamic Nuclear Polarization solid-state NMR spectrometer. The NMR spectrometers are equipped with a large number of solution and solid state NMR probes including the 600 MHz cryoprobe and a 400 MHz Prodigy probe.

The Analytical Department of the Research Center of Feluy (Belgium) being part of the Refining and Chemistry branch of TOTAL is looking for a Research  Engineer specialized in Solid State NMR for a fixed-term contract of 12 month.

The successful applicants will join a team of computational chemists and organic chemists working collaboratively to pursue the objectives of the ERC funded project ‘’Beyond structure: integrated computational and experimental approach to Ensemble-Based Drug Design’’.

A one-year Post-Doc position is available in the University of Versailles under the supervision of Dr. Charlotte Martineau. The project involves advanced solid-state NMR measurements and DFT calculations on coppper iodide cluster compounds, synthesized in collaboration with Dr. Sandrine Perruchas at PMC-Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France). The NMR experiments will be carried out in Versailles and in CEMTHI Orléans, where a range of medium to high-field (850 MHz) solid-state NMR spectrometers are available.
