Postdoc opportunity at Caltech

California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA

Prof. Shu-ou Shan (Caltech) and Peter Wright (TSRI) invite applications for a postdoctoral position to work on a collaborative project between the two groups.

We seek outstanding scientists with strong expertise in macromolecular NMR and biochemistry, to work on the mechanism and dynamics of membrane protein chaperones. For the specific project of interest, please refer to the following articles: 1) Liang, F.-C., Kroon, G., McAvoy, C., Chi, C., Wright, P.*, and Shan, S.O.* (2016) Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U. S. A., pii: 201524777. 2) Jaru-Ampornpan, P., Shen, K., Lam, V.Q., Ali, M., Doniach, S., Jia, T.Z., and Shan, S.* (2010) Nature Struct. Mole. Biol. 17, 696-702.

Candidates should have or be expecting a Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry or related areas. Successful candidates will be hosted by the Shan lab at Caltech, with NMR instrumentation and support provided by the Wright group. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and a cover letter summarizing research accomplishments and future career goals

For those not familiar with southern California: Pasadena is located about 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles, just south of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Angeles National Forest. Scripps is in La Jolla, in the northern part of the San Diego metro area, about two hours from Pasadena by car, on a very attractive part of the Pacific coast.
