Staff Scientist Position at the Swedish NMR Centre

A permanent staff scientist position is available at the Swedish NMR Centre. Apply at the latest on May 8, 2018.

The Swedish NMR Centre at the University of Gothenburg is a national research infrastructure at the Univeristy of Gothenburg, and internationally a well recognized NMR laboratory. The Swedish NMR Centre provides access to advanced NMR equipment and provides support for general applications to users from academia and industry. The Swedish NMRT Centre also provides advanced support and develops methods within the focus areas structural biology, chemical biology, NMR-based metabolomics, material science and small molecule NMR.

Job assignment:

You will take part in regular operations and continuous development of the NMR infrastructure in a local, national and international perspective, in particular within structural biology, chemical biology, NMR-based metabolomics, material science and small molecule NMR.

You will implement and optimize NMR experiments, perform analysis and methods development within our focus areas and support external users and their research projects. Work tasks also include the development and maintenance of the NMR infrastructure, communication with users as well as administrative tasks.

You will be working in a team of staff scientists. The work takes place in an international environment where the main working language is English.


Doctoral degree in chemistry, biophysics or physics, focusing on NMR spectroscopy, or equivalent competence.

You are an advanced NMR spectroscopist with hands-on experience of solution NMR. Experience of Bruker environment, developing and writing pulse sequences, especially for structural biology, dynamics, or small molecule applications, programming (linux, python, matlab etc), as well as post doctorial experience is a merit.

Since the position to a large extent involves interacting with external researchers, you should have good social skills and communication skills as well as great interest in providing assistance. You should also have good collaborative skills. The work requires good knowledge of the English language in speech and writing.
