Since its inception in 1999, the Internet Services unit has played an integral role in furthering the principal goal of the World Wide Web at the Weizmann Institute, as on any campus: improved communications and the fluid dissemination of information.

While the Internet Services unit maintains the Institute's central web servers, its primary function is the creation of scientific departmental web sites, as well as individually customized applications. As the focus of web site programming has shifted from static web pages to dynamic interactive ones, so has the unit been working in close cooperation with the administrative departments in particular, to enable even the smallest change in data to be immediately visible and retrievable via the internet.

If you would like us to create (free of charge) a website, or a customized application (for conferences, special departmental events, etc.) for your department, please contact us at any time. For those who create their own sites, the unit maintains a helpful collection of guidelines to help the individual user. In addition, from time to time instructional courses in the Internet and HTML coding are offered by the Computing Center.

Because the Weizmann website is often the initial contact between the Institute and the outside world, the Internet Services unit has an important role to play in terms of public relations. By managing a continually evolving web site, ensuring the rapid flow of information via a professional and efficient interface, the Internet Services unit helps the Institute put its best face forward at all times.
