Scientific Instrumentation - Physics

The Scientific Instrumentation - Physics unit's vast capabilities and experience enable it to produce custom made instruments, assemblies and machines for all the research laboratories in the Institute. Available to the skilled technicians are lathes and milling machines as well as professional pipe and vacuum welding and soldering capabilities that allow for high precision in metalwork and in other unique materials.
The workshop is fully equipped with all necessary equipment which enables the manufacture of high quality products in a short time and low prices. Instruments are designed either by the scientist/student working in conjunction with the technicians or through the Instruments Design Unit using advanced CAD technologies.

Instruments Maintenance

Instruments maintenanceThe Instruments Maintenance unit is made up of expert technicians able to repair and maintain laboratory equipment such as Vacuum Pumps, Centrifuges, Ice Makers, Film Developers, Pipettes and Balances. The team also carries out preventative service for much of the abovementioned equipment on a regular basis

Our professional and skilled technicians are on call during workdays to provide immediate technical solutions in the research departments.

Instrument Design

Instrument DesignThe Instrument Design Unit, a team of skilled engineers, designs prototypes of versatile laboratory instruments according to specific research needs. Innovative solutions to technical problems that arose during the design process are worked out by the team in conjunction with the requesting scientist.
The design process is implemented using CAD software, which simulates the assembly as a solid on the screen, allowing quick changes until the final product is realized. The team accompanies the manufacturing process of the prototype from the workshops through its installation and finally to its successful operation in the laboratory.

Glassblowing

GlassblowingThe unique Glassblowing department provides solutions for complex requirements for all research departments that use glass equipment. These requirements include, among others, design and manufacture of proto-type tools and instruments made of Pyrex and Quartz and a repair service for existing tools and systems. The capable and skilled team is available to meet the scientists' requirements either by manual glassblowing or by using a rotary glassblowing machine. In parallel to their glassblowing work, the staff provides training and lectures for students including live demonstrations in the classroom.
