Science, poetry, and football

Date: Sunday, January 29, 2017

The Zappa Club in Herzliya was filled to the brim for the WeizmannVibe event of the Israel Friends’ Young Club on July 6. The evening started with a lecture from Prof. Noam Sobel of the Department of Neurobiology entitled “Blood, Sweat, and Tears,” in which he explained the concept of chemical communication between humans and the role of the sense of smell. He described his research that found that the smell of tears inhibits sexual attraction. Later, the crowd enjoyed a performance by singer-songwriter Arkadi Duchin, and football fans got to see the Euro 2016 semifinals on a big screen.
