International Board event for Latin American friends
During the International Board, the Latin American Committee for the Weizmann Institute hosted an exclusive event for the Latin American friends and in honor of the President of the Brazilian Association of Friends, Mario Fleck, who received a Doctor of Philosophy honoris causa, the Institute’s highest honor.
More than 80 people attended the event that took place in Tel Aviv, among them the incoming President and Vice President of Resource Development, Prof. Alon Chen and Prof. Roee Ozeri, respectively; Prof. Regina Markus, Vice President of the Brazilian Association of Friends; and Prof. Mariano Zalis, Vice President of the Brazilian Association for Rio de Janeiro; Silvia and Mauricio Gerson, President and Vice President of the Mexican Association of Friends; Jaime Garbarsky, Vice President of the Argentinean Association of Friends; scientists and Mr. Fleck’s family and distinguished friends.
Dany Schmit, CEO of External Affairs for Latin America, was the master of ceremonies and opened the event with a speech that recognized Mr. Fleck and thanked him for his hard work on behalf of the Institute over the years.
The evening event also included speeches from Prof. Chen, Marcos Lederman representing the Brazilian Friends, and Mr. Fleck.
