The Weizmann women in chemistry (WWIC) is a student forum for women in all stages of their scientific career in the department of chemistry. Our goal is to promote, encourage and expand the horizons of women in pursuit of professional careers in science, by building a supportive community and providing a variety of programs.
Our monthly-base meetings include:
- Professional development workshops – provide practical tools and develop leadership skills, confidence and management skills.
- Inspiring talks from leading speakers (both women and men) about topics such as work-life balance and personal stories.
- Providing a platform for open dialog on selected topics.
- Recreational activities.

Choosing my own path
Our speaker this month is Dr. Elena Meirzada, currently a postdoctoral fellow at Colombia University in NYC. Elena was born in Iran and moved to Israel at age 12. She completed her BSc in chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, followed by a direct track Ph.D. in the Department ofMaterials and Interfaces at Weizmann Institute of Science. During her graduate studies, she was awarded numerous prizes and prestigious scholarships, among them, the Dean's Prize and the Dimitris N. Chorafas Prize for an outstanding student, and the Israel National Postdoctoral Award for Advancing Women in Science. Elena will tell us about her inspiring story, the obstacles she faced along the way, and what made her decide to pursue an academic career. Join us on Monday, 15.2.21 at 14:00 via zoom. Dear all, We are pleased to invite you to a festive lunch for renewing the activity of the women’s forum. The Women in Chemistry (WIC) is a student forum for women in all stages of their scientific career in the Department of Chemistry. Our goal is to promote, encourage, and expand thehorizons of women in pursuit of professional careers in science, by building a social and professional network and providing a variety of programs. Come meet us on the lawn in front of the Kimmelman building at 12:00 on Tuesday, December 22nd. We’ll have lunch, introduce ourselves and get to know you, hear an uplifting talk from Dr. Meytal Eran-Jona, Gender, Diversity and Development Adviser of the Weizmann Institute, and of course finish with a special dessert..
