537: Bioinformatics Research Scientist

Nucleix Ltd. develops, manufactures and markets innovative non-invasive molecular cancer diagnostic tests. The company’s highly sensitive and specific tests are based on the identification of subtle changes in methylation patterns. The technology is based on a combination of a new biochemical platform in conjunction with sophisticated algorithms. The company has existing PCR-based products as well as an ambitious NGS-based R&D pipeline.

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Research Scientist to join our growing team.
Position based in Park Hamada Rehovot.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementing existing, and developing custom bioinformatics pipelines for different NGS analyses
  • Analyzing sequencing data for detection of cancer related changes
  • Developing new sequence-based research initiatives for detection of cancer
  • Lead the projects from their initiation, defining requirements, and throughout their implementation until completion
  • Working closely with the relevant teams (all or part of the following: Research, Software, Product Development, Clinical, Quality and Regulatory) to understand the requirements of the project, and drive forward implementation
  • Initiating and leading meetings on a regular basis with the project stakeholders in order to advance the project
  • Updating management on the status, progress and problems of the projects
  • Preparing presentations and writing scientific manuscripts for presenting the research results
  • Presenting research results to outside parties, including international travel

Requirements:

  • MSc/PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a similar field
  • Experience in implementation of bioinformatics pipelines for large NGS projects, including implementation of pipelines for Illumina NovaSeq data
  • Hands on knowledge of sequence alignment, mutation calling, copy number, and fragmentomics analysis methods and tools, including ability to construct custom bioinformatics pipelines starting from raw fastq data
  • Expert knowledge of cancer biology, including cancer driver and passenger mutations, methylation changes, copy number, fragmentomcis changes, and genomic rearrangements
  • Team player, responsible, excellent communication skills, including excellent command of English
  • Ability to communicate with the Company’s international colleagues outside of the standard business hours of the Tel-Aviv office
