Scientist (Replacement for Maternity Leave)

Job Description:

The scientist will report to the mAb Target Validation Associate Director in the Research and Drug Discovery unit. The candidate will be responsible for designing and executing experimental systems for functional validation of novel immunomodulatory molecules discovered by Compugen, including target validation activities, research tools generation and QC, expression studies, Abs characterization, cell-based assays, and reporter assay.
The candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting experiments, recording and analyzing data, presenting results to management, writing research reports, and interacting with other research and administration staff. The candidate is expected to think out of the box, propose original solutions to complex problems, to perform hands-on experimental work and to be an excellent team worker.

  • Perform Antibody based in vitro assays
  • Generate over expression systems and knock-down/knock out cells
  • Perform different biochemical assays for antibody characterization (Western blot, ELISA)
  • Perform cell based functional assays
  • Record results in laboratory notebook in a timely manner, prepare written reports and oral presentations
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely progress of research projects according to the pipeline prioritization
  • Temporary replacement for maternity leave (starting June 2020 for a minimum of 6 months)

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in life sciences and 2 years of experience in the biotech industry or MSc in life sciences and 5 years of experience in the biotech industry
  • Highly experienced in cell culture technologies – must
    • Over expression systems (lentivirus, retrovirus, transfections, etc.) including single clone generation and characterization, cell soring
    • knock-down/knock out technologies (si/shRNA, CRISPR)
  • Extensive experience in molecular biology methods – must
  • Extensive experience in cell based in vitro assays – must
    • FACS staining
    • Antibody based in vitro assays
    • Cell based functional assays
  • Experience in biochemical technologies – Western blot, ELISA – must
  • Experience in RNA methods – RNA extraction, cDNA, qRT-PCR, RNA scope, NGS – advantage
  • Knowledgeable in monoclonal Ab discovery – advantage
  • Experience and knowledge in protein purification, QC and analytics – advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
