Senior Data Scientist (August 2020)

Forter is looking for a highly capable senior data scientist to join our data science team in combating online frauds. Candidates must have a strong analytical background and hands-on experience in designing and implementing machine learning models.

The Forter data science team members use a variety of statistical methods and machine learning techniques (both supervised and unsupervised) in order to develop, in collaboration with the analysts teams, classification and anomaly detection algorithms based on data that is often highly imbalanced and lacks in volume. The team members are independent, versatile, and enthusiastic to take on new problems and be constantly aware of the newest methodologies and methods in the field.

As a senior data scientist, you will be responsible for designing the next generation of cutting edge methods that will help Forter to battle sophisticated fraudsters in real-time at a large scale, and be a professional focal point for other team members, as well as the analyst teams.

What will you be doing:

Joining a diverse team of data scientists in designing, building and maintaining statistical modeling solutions

Self-managing projects planning, milestones, designs, and estimations to achieve high-level goals

Learning and experimenting with new statistical / ML techniques

Communicating research results, solutions and complex ideas to peers and management

Working with colleagues from various disciplines - Research Engineers, Analysts, Quants and other data scientists (all of whom write production code!)

Mentor fellow colleagues in the latest data science advancements


At least M.Sc in one of the following: Computer Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Statistics or a close field (preferably a PhD)

At least 5 years of experience as a researcher and/or data scientist in the industry

Hands on & theoretical expertise in at least one of the following: NLP, Deep Learning or Graph Theory.

Expert in various machine learn techniques, both theoretical and practical, such as clustering, classification and regression.

Experience with gradient boosted trees

Experience with statistical analysis 

At least 3 years of practical experience with Python, SQL, AWS and PySpark(preferably)

Excellent communication skills

Professional grade proficiency in English
