Mr. Mandy Moross
For more than six decades since its establishment, the Weizmann Institute of Science has fulfilled the vision of Dr. Chaim Weizmann of an elite research institute. Today, it is a vibrant community of researchers whose scientific achievements in the natural, exact, and life sciences have been acknowledged worldwide. It has played a central role in the evolution of Israel's standing as an international powerhouse in high tech and biotechnology, generating insights in a broad range of scientific fields, from nanoscience and math to biomedicine and the environment.
The Institute's consistent policy, through changing leaderships and administrations, has been to cultivate scientific excellence by emphasizing the scientist: recruiting the best researchers and providing them with complete freedom and the utmost support to pursue their curiosity to the frontiers of their disciplines, and beyond. This approach has been borne out in many of the Institute's achievements.
The Institute's International Board was established in 1947. In 2008, governance procedures were revised to reflect changing needs. Its formal role in Institute management is carried out in its Audit, Nominating, and Scientific and Academic Advisory Committees; and the Executive Board, and its Management, Assets, Honors, and Appointments and Promotions Committees.
I'm happy that some of our Board members are children, and even grandchildren, of former members. Their involvement is especially meaningful because it is heartwarming to see the commitment to the Weizmann Institute passed on through the generations. I am confident we have the leadership team in place to surmount the arising economic challenges, and we can look forward to the Institute's scientific research continuing to flourish and inform the health and understanding of the world in which we live.
Sincerely,
Mandy Moross
