A plausible structure of the TAR-RNA complex with NeoR6

Image 5

[Based on A. Lapidot and A. Litovchick, "Novel HIV tat antagonists", Drug Devel. Res. 50, 502-515 (2000).]

Specifically, the arginine on ring I, conjugated via the aliphatic amine of neomicyn B, is positioned in the cavity form by the bulge of TAR-RNA. The interaction of the a-amino group of the arginine with the phosphates is indicated.

The structure of the TAR-RNA is based on the structure of the TAR-RNA-arginineamide complex (PDB entry 1arj).
