Selective Control of Molecular Rotation in Mixtures
We have utilized the double pulse scheme for selective control of different molecular isotopes in mixtures, and have shown that at the right delay between the pulses, we can enhance the rotation of one molecular species while stopping the other species from rotating. link to article - PRA 74, 041403, 2006.
A similar idea was applied to a more challenging problem – the selective rotational excitation of different nuclear spin modifications (Para and Ortho) where we used the correlation between the nuclear spin wavefunction and the rotational wavefunction. link to article - PRL 99, 093002 2007.
Ongoing projects involve the selective nuclear spin excitation of more complicated molecules such as Acetylene (C2H2). |
