Quantum Computing and Metrology

Trapped-ions are a leading technology in quantum information studies. We have implemented in our lab a suniversal set of quantum gates on an array of trapped ions. Our qubits are encoded into the internal states of thetrapped ions. We execute deterministic entanglment gates, perform individula qubit rotations and initialize and detect our qubits. All these operations are performed with high fidelity.

In our experiment we are using 88Sr+ ions. Above is an image of our ion-trap inside the ultra-high vacuum chamber.
