The Bar-Joseph group focuses on the investigation of the light-matter interaction in low dimensional structures. A major effort is devoted to the study of interacting electrons in two dimensions, using high quality GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells. Our focus is on two aspects: the collective behavior of many-excitons system and the fractional quantum Hall effect.
Another line of research is the study of light interactions in metallic nanostructures, with a special emphasis on electrically driven plasmonic systems. 

Our research makes use of various optical spectroscopy tools and a variety of laser sources, spectrometers and detectors, in conjunction with sensitive electrical transport measurements. The lab is equipped with cryogenic and electronic systems for low temperature investigations with or without magnetic field. We have device manufacturing capabilities using the facilities of the Submicron Center.
