Safed

The Safed workshop on "The Quantum World in Real Time" will be held in the small, historical town of Safed (also spelled Tzfat, Tsfat, Zefat, etc.) in the forested mountains of northern Israel (Upper Galilee).

Safed is a unique and hilly town marked by centuries of history. The hallmarks of Safed include its cobblestone streets and archways, artists’ galleries, and ancient synagogues. Safed is well known for the great Kabballists (Jewish mystics) who thrived there in the past. It is considered one of the four holiest places in Jewish tradition, along with Jerusalem, Tiberius, and Hebron, and today is still considered a world center for Jewish mysticism.

Lectures will be held at the Safed College, a regional college of Bar-Ilan University. Participants will be housed at the Merkazi (“Central”) Hotel, on the mostly pedestrian main street, Rehov Yerushalayim (“Jerusalem Street”), a five minute walking distance. This street, boasting several sidewalk cafés, leads off to the artists’ quarter and to the old part of town with its many synagogues.
