Syllabus:
The course provides an overview to understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal origins, differentiation, outgrowth, connectivity and death. Specific topics that will be covered include inductive signals, patterning, cell fate and differentiation, cell adhesion, axon guidance, specificity of connectivity, retinotectal maps, trophic mechanisms, neuronal polarity, synapse formation, neuron-glia interactions, and neurodegeneration and regeneration.
