New Books For Faculty Libraries

Faculty Librarians are responsible for initiating orders for monographs for Faculty Library Collections.

Recommendations should be forwarded to the Faculty Librarian. A form for Recommending Books/Journals Purchase for Library Collections is available on the Libraries homepage under Request Forms.

Recommendations for Faculty Library collections will be reviewed by the Faculty Library advisor, and if approved, will be ordered (if there is no budget restriction).

When the material arrives at the Faculty Library the scientist who recommended it will have priority to receive it.
New books are displayed on a special shelf for a short period and Library users are invited to add their names to the waiting list.
Purchase requests for course-related material should be submitted at least three months prior to the start of the course in order to allow adequate time for delivery and processing.

Scientists may order books on their own, using their own private credit cards. In order to receive reimbursement, scientists must request an authorized budget approval and signature to be entered on the specific Direct Purchase Reimbursement Form available on the Libraries Request Forms page.

The purchased book should be brought together with the completed form, along with the original receipt to the Faculty Librarian or directly to the Central Library Acquisition Section. (Room 7).

Library materials will be processed and entered into the Library Catalog and then sent to the Faculty Librarians who will notify scientists that their book is available.

E-books, E-pubs, PDF, etc., ordered directly by scientists cannot be processed in the Library.
The library is unauthorized to approve reimbursement of material not registered in the catalog. The library will keep a file of this material in order to use it for future reconsideration.
