Research Interests

My main research interest lies in host-pathogen interactions, particularly the fascinating patterns of co-evolution that hosts and viruses display. In my Ph.D. thesis I focused on developing novel evolutionary models and methodologies, and used these models to study the interactions between HIV and the human host.

Currently, I focus on studying host-phage interactions in the lab of Dr. Rotem Sorek. I am studying the recently discovered CRISPR system, which is an adaptive immune system in prokaryotes. My research interests, among others, include:

  • Studying the evolution of diverse CRISPR systems
  • Exploring co-evolution of CRISPR systems with phages
  • Deciphering the mechanism of action of CRISPR
  • Discovering novel antiviral systems
