Nuclear mechanotransduction and cell cycle progression

We recently discovered that larval muscles carrying various mutations in the LINC complex exhibit deregulated cell cycle progression, resulting with enhanced DNA synthesis in the myonuclei. This observation led us to hypothesize that mechanical inputs are required for controlling cell cycle progression in muscle nuclei. Studies are directed to reveal the signaling pathways activated by mechanotransduction, and required for cell cycle regulation.
