• What is the Weizmann Institute's On-line Directory?

  The Weizmann Institute's On-line Directory is an easy and accurate search vehicle for locating people on the Institute campus. Some of the data fields (elements of each person's entry) are accessible only by computers on the Institute's network; other items are available to all users, on and off campus. The following fields are included in each data entry (fields in red are not seen seen by off-campus uses):

  name	office phone	home page	home phone
  email address	office fax		personal cell phone
  department	building	room	Institute cell phone

  Please note that home and cell phone numbers are available only to users working from computers inside the Weizmann Institute's campus network. Outsiders cannot gain access to this information.

• How Do I Look Someone Up in the Electronic Directory?

  The electronic directory is accessable from the header of the Weizmann homepage as well as from the header of many of the pages on our web site.
  In the Intranet site, enter the (first or last) name of the person you want to contact in the search box, and click on Go.
  In the new web site, choose People in the Category list and click on Go.
  You may use either upper or lower case letters in both the Intranet search and the new web site search.

  If you do not know the full name or exact spelling, you can still locate the person using the following aids:

  • Type in the first few letters of the name followed by an asterisk (*). This option will display the records of all the people whose name contains those first few letters. For example:   gr* will return Greenberg, Greenbaum, Gross, Greta, Gretta, or any other first or last name that begins with Gr.  

  • Use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard anywhere in the name to represent any number of missing letters. For example,  Gr*nb* will return Greenberg and Grinberg, Greenbaum and Grinbaum.

  • Clicking on Advanced Search allows searching by email address, phone number, department or academic status.

  • If you don't know the exact email address, you can try firstname.lastname@weizmann.ac.il in the Email Address field.

  Note that an item in the Department list must be selected. Either select the particular department where the person works, or else select All Departments at Weizmann Institute. If you forget, the default is All Departments at Weizmann Institute.

  Many departments have a Contact Person listed, when you search on a department (without entering anything in any of the search fields). If you are unsuccessful in your search, you can turn to this Contact Person for help.
  
  

• How Do I Change My Directory Information?

  In order to change your information, go to the Update Your Details Page and follow the instructions. Be aware that your corrections will not appear until the following day.

• I do not want my picture to appear in the directory. What can I do?

  If you do not want your picture to appear on any of the Weizmann internet pages, go to the Update Your Details Page and change the value of Show my picture in the Weizmann systems to NO. The change will take effect the following day.

The Institute receives many legitimate requests from outside Weizmann Institute for email addresses. If your email address is not present and correct in our on-line directory, the electronic mail community will not have a reliable mechanism for finding you. Please make sure that the directory includes your email address.

The Weizmann Institute's on-line directory will only be as valuable as the information in it. That is why we need your assistance in making it accurate. Thank you for your help.
