Welcome

Plants are the central player in the interaction of humanity with the biosphere.
Over 80% of the land and water used by humanity is to grow plants for food, fuel and building material.
Fundamental breakthroughs in biology have continuously emanated from
studying plants. Mendel sowing the seeds of genetics, Barbara McClintock
discovering jumping genes right to the discovery of microRNA.
Today plants continue to serve in our department as ideal model systems for
studying metabolism, epigentics, signaling and artificial photosynthesis
