About the Service

BioImaging Informatics addresses the issues of image processing, quantitative image analysis and visualization as well as storage and retrieval of biological image data.

The BioImaging Informatics Unit supports adoption, development and use of automatic bioimaging analysis tools for the specific needs of WIS researchers.

Our current activities include:

Image Analysis

We provide help with image data analysis using either existing tools or development of new solutions.

Typical projects can be:

Small: Simple image analysis using matlab or existing tools.

Medium: Adaptation of existing tool to the specific data.

Big: Development of new algorithms and user interface.

Infrastructure

Campus licenses for the Imaris, Volocity and Avizo commercial image analysis packages are available as courtesy of the Biological Services Unit and the Electron Microscopy Unit .

Public Image Analysis Workstataion is available for public usage at Levine Building. It has Imaris, Volocity, Avizo, Fiji, Matlab, Zen and HistoQuant installed.

BioImg is a central (long-term) bioimaging storage server for all the imaging data acquired at the imaging units. It enables data sharing and storing experiment metadata and notes in order to track and search experiment’s information.

You can contact us for help using BioImg or if you want to connect your own microscope to the system.

Networking

We aim to create a community to enable sharing of experience between different users at WIS. If you are willing to share your experience or tools with others, please tell us what you are doing. If you’ve developed a tool that can be of wide interest, we can help promoting it.
