Israel National Center for Personalized Medicine

Enabled by cutting-edge technology platforms in Genomics, Proteomics, Computational Biology, and Chemical Genomics (HTS), the INCPM will bring together world-leading research and clinical teams from all over Israel.

The unique strength of the INCPM lies in both the integration of enabling-technology platforms into a seamless organization and the strong ties with academic researchers, creating a scientific momentum that extends technological boundaries. The INCPM will include next-generation sequencing, high-throughput screening of small molecules, mass-spectrometry-driven proteomics, computational biology, and technology development. It will have a single primary location, in the “Solar building” on the Weizmann Institute campus in Rehovot, which is currently being refurbished, that will serve as the home for the technology platforms and as a scientific magnet for collaborators throughout Israel.

The INCPM will act as a nationally accessible central resource facility, open to all qualified Israeli academic and clinical researchers and biomedical companies. Access fees will be similar for all users, who will be on equal standing, with no bias given to any particular entity. Each of the INCPM’s four units is an independent functional entity, with scientists soliciting the various services from and submitting proposals for collaboration opportunities directly to the unit heads based on the scientists’ specific research needs. This is balanced by the interdisciplinary nature of the Center, giving investigators the opportunity to think on a much broader scale and create programs that require expertise from all four units as a whole. Great emphasis will be put on creating a, cooperative working environment and minimizing bureaucratic procedures. The ICNPM will develop in a scalable manner, namely, that the infrastructure will have the ability to grow seamlessly in order to support a higher level of services and collaborations as the customer base increases.
