SolarPACES
SolarPACES (Solar Power and Chemical Energy Systems) is an international cooperative network bringing together teams of national experts from around the world to focus on the development and marketing of concentrating solar power systems (also known as solar thermal power systems). It is one of a number of collaborative programs, called Implementing Agreements, managed under the umbrella of the International Energy Agency to help find solutions to worldwide energy problems.
Who are its members?
Currently SolarPACES has 19 members: Australia, Austria, Algeria, Brazil, China, Egypt, the European Commission, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and United States of America. The Mitsubishi Corporation from Japan is the first Sponsor Member of SolarPACES. Membership is open to all countries, subject to Executive Committee approval, and involves a government (or its nominated contracting party) becoming a signatory to the program’s “Implementing Agreement,” which defines SolarPACES’ charter and conditions of membership. Sponsors are members not designated by any Government and can be e.g. international organizations or private companies who become members subject to a specific association procedure.
