Remote sensing provides unique opportunities to study
complex systems across scales, from laboratory
measurements to satellite observations. This talk will
present an overview of the research conducted in the
MARS (Multidimensional Analysis in Remote Sensing)
Laboratory at the Technion. The talk will highlight recent
developments in spectral remote sensing, including
hyperspectral and multispectral data analysis, spectral
unmixing, bidirectional reflectance distribution function
(BRDF) characterization, data fusion, and machine
learning methods for extracting information from
complex datasets. Applications will be demonstrated in
precision agriculture, environmental monitoring,
additive manufacturing, and Earth surface
characterization. Through examples spanning scales
from microns to kilometers, the talk will illustrate how
advanced sensing technologies, physical modeling, and
artificial intelligence can be combined to reveal hidden
patterns and address scientific challenges across a wide
range of spatial scales.
