Career Center

The group of Björn Burmann at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, is recruiting two PhD-students for studying large protein complexes by solution NMR-spectroscopy. The Department and the Swedish NMR Centre offers an international and enthusiastic working environment with excellent infrastructure for studies in all areas of life science.

Applications are invited for a Scientific Officer in NMR Metabolomics in the NMR Facility within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London.
The NMR Facility forms part of the Centre for Biomolecular Spectroscopy and following a £3M award from the Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation and King’s College London, we are establishing a state-of-the-art facility to conduct research in a number of metabolic profiling areas.

Two NIH funded postdoctoral positions are available in the group of Prof. Nate Traaseth in the Department of Chemistry at New York University. The laboratory is located in the heart of Manhattan (Greenwich Village) within New York City. Research projects aim to establish structure-function relationships for membrane transport proteins involved in drug resistance and receptor tyrosine kinases involved in human growth development through the use of solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy.

PhD place available for 18th September 2017 start, fully funded for UK and EU citizens.
Application Deadline 26th March 2017

Project Title: Optically Generated Sensitivity Enhancements in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

The Leicester Institute of Structural and Chemical Biology (LSCB) has a number of academic and research positions available.

In vitro and in vivo NMR investigation of the L,D-transpeptidase:peptidoglycan complex and of the mycobacterial cell-wall maturation

A PhD studentship supported by the Marie Curie Actions-C

The MIT Department of Chemistry has an opening for a Director of our Chemistry Instrumentation Facility (DCIF).

We welcome applications from all qualified candidates.  Any questions on the positing may be directed to Michele Harris, Human Resources Coordinator at or 617-253-1804.

A post-doctoral fellow position is immediately available in the research group of Professor Aaron Rossini at Iowa State University. The goal of the project is to develop new solid-state NMR methods for the characterization of pure and formulated active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). We will accomplish this by utilizing the state of the art NMR technologies of fast MAS and dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) to enhance the sensitivity of solid-state NMR experiments on APIs. The projects will be executed in collaboration with Dr. Joe Lubach and Dr. Karthik Nagapudi (Genentech).

We are looking for post-doctoral candidates to join an exciting project on the determination of mechanisms of allostery mediated by disulfide bonds in proteins with NMR spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulations. The role of the post-doc associate will be to work with experimental NMR as well as molecular dynamics simulations and theoretical modeling.

This project is a collaboration between the NMR group at Ecole normale superieure and the group of theoretical biochemistry at the Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique, both within PSL Research University.

A position for a postdoctoral scientist is available immediately in the Gavathiotis Laboratory at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the area of NMR-based structural biology and drug discovery. The laboratory's focuses on structural and chemical biology approaches  and operates at the interface of chemistry, biology and translational science with the goal to discover novel biological mechanisms that are causing or contributing to cancer and other diseases and develop novel therapeutics.
