NMR facility manager position at Deakin University, Australia

The NMR facility at Deakin University, Australia, has an opening for a Facility Manager.  The position sits within the School of Life and Environmental Sciences (LES), which encompasses a wide range of disciplines from biomedical science to environmental management.  The NMR facility is located at the Geelong Waurn Ponds campus and houses five spectrometers (three Bruker and two JEOL) with a diverse range of capabilities including solid- and solution-state NMR spectroscopy, magic angle spinning, pulsed field gradients and micro-imaging.  The lab provides support primarily to researchers in the LES and Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) but is also open to users from across the University, other collaborating institutions and industry.  Its primary focus is research, with smaller teaching and consultancy aspects

The Manager will be responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the University’s capacity in magnetic resonance, with a focus on solution-state NMR spectroscopy.  Their responsibilities will include providing expert advice and training to users, implementing operational procedures, maintaining the instrumentation, overseeing the facility budget, contributing to NMR-related publications and funding applications, and promoting the facility.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in organic or analytical chemistry (or a related field) and demonstrable expertise in advanced solution-state NMR spectroscopy.
