NMR Technical Officer position at the University of Kent, School of Biosciences

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Biological NMR Facility in the School of Biosciences that houses a 4-channel Bruker AV3 600 MHz NMR spectrometer with QCI-F cryoprobe.  The NMR Technical Officer also engages in training and supporting new and existing users of the facility at undergraduate, postgraduate and post-doctoral levels.  This support extends to managing computational aspects of the facility (Linux, Apple OSX and PC Windows), especially software support and data analysis including sequential assignment and spin relaxation using CCPN Analysis, structural elucidation using CNS/ARIA/CS-Rosetta and structural analysis using Yasara/Pymol.  There are also opportunities to engage in teaching NMR-related workshops and lectures together with the Facility Manager as well as develop individual research projects.

The appointee will work closely with Dr. Jose Ortega-Roldan (Lecturer in Biological NMR & NMR Facility Manager) and Professor David Brown (Professor of Structural Biology & Director of Biosciences’ Facilities) in all aspects of facility support, running and strategic vision.
