PhD opportunity in Australia

PhD in magnetic resonance characterisation of energy materials

An opening exists for a PhD candidate at Deakin University’s Institute for Frontier Materials.  The research will involve the use of magnetic resonance techniques (both spectroscopy and imaging) to study structure and dynamics in novel energy materials including ionic liquids and organic ionic plastic crystals.  Such materials exhibit useful properties as electrolytes in lithium or sodium-based electrochemical devices, and our group aims to understand their ion transport properties in depth using a variety of methods including experimental characterisation and computational modelling.  The candidate will work as part of a large collaborative team, and previous experience in magnetic resonance characterisation is highly desirable.  For more information please email luke.odell@deakin.edu.au.
