Postdoc position available at Novartis, Basel, Switzerland

Postdoc position available at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) in Basel, Switzerland
Intrinsically Disordered Proteins

A postdoctoral position is available in the Protein Sciences group of NIBR’s Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department for the study of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). The aim of this project is to explore approaches to modulate the biological function of IDPs by small molecules. A variety of assay technologies and chemical biology tools are available to screen for interactions, and NMR spectroscopy and other biophysical methods will be used to characterize these on a molecular level.

Expertise in NMR spectroscopy and/or other biophysical methods, and a chemical biology background or mindset are required for this position, whereas experience with intrinsically disordered proteins is welcome but not required.

Postdoctoral scholars at NIBR have a unique opportunity to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research and are expected to publish their results in leading journals. The postdoctoral term is up to 4 years.

Qualifications:
 PhD in chemical biology, biophysics or related fields (PhD students in the last year of their thesis work are eligible to apply)
 Expertise in biophysical and structural investigations of proteins, e.g. by NMR spectroscopy
 Strong publication record
 Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills
 Candidates must be able to work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams
