Postdoctoral Position in the Marassi laboratory, SBP La Jolla CA, in Structural Biology of Membrane Proteins

A Postdoctoral position is open in the laboratory of Francesca Marassi, at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SBP), in the area of biomolecular NMR spectroscopy of membrane proteins.

Research projects focus on structural, functional and computational characterization of membrane proteins involved in promoting bacterial virulence and the regulation of programmed cell death. We are interested in understanding membrane protein structure, interactions and function in the context of the lipid bilayer membrane.

SBP is an independent, nonprofit, public benefit organization, dedicated to basic biomedical research. The campus is centrally situated on the La Jolla Research Mesa, within less than a mile of the University of California San Diego, the Salk, and the Scripps Research Institutes, and within two miles of numerous other research institutes and biotech companies. This proximity stimulates scientific exchange and interactions.

The laboratory is located in the heart of the SBP campus, directly across from the Torrey Pines State Reservesurf and beaches. The research facilities include solution NMR and solid-state NMR instrumentation, as well as biophysical and biochemical laboratories.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or closely related field and should have experience in protein biochemistry and/or biomolecular structure determination.
Remuneration is competitive and commensurate with years of relevant experience, according to NIH guidelines. The position is not restricted to U.S. citizens. Women and Minorities are encouraged to apply.
Applications should include a cover letter describing research interests, a CV with publication list, and contact information for three letters of reference. They should be directed by email to Francesca Marassi at fmarassi@sbp.edu
