Postdoctoral Position in Protein NMR

A post-doctoral position in protein NMR is available in the group of Victor Muñoz at the National Biotechnology Center, Madrid, Spain, to work on a research project funded by the ERC Advanced Grant MOLRHEOSTAT. This project aims at studying the biological roles of molecular rheostats (protein modules that fold-unfold following a downhill mechanism) in controlling protein-protein interaction networks and protein binding and sliding over DNA with a combination of protein engineering, high-resolution NMR methods, single molecule methods (SM fluorescence spectroscopy and AFM) and high performance computing. The successful candidate will perform dynamical and structural studies to characterize folding coupled to binding of small proteins interacting with partners such as DNA or other proteins using primarily NMR spectroscopy (600 MHz Ultrashield Plus Avance III Bruker instrument) in combination with a wide range of biophysical and biochemical techniques. Candidates should hold a PhD degree in protein NMR. The successful candidate will have accredited track record on a combination of skills, ranging from hands-on experience with protein expression, purification and setting up of triple resonance NMR experiments, expertise in advanced NMR relaxation methods (relaxation dispersion, paramagnetic relaxation enhancement), NMR protein structure calculation methods. The position will start as soon as possible and the contract will be for two years. Applications and informal queries about the research project should be directed to vmunoz@cnb.csic.es or itorres@cnb.csic.es. Applications should include a letter of motivation and future research interests, a CV, a list of publications, and contact information for two references.
