There is an opportunity for a talented NMR spectroscopist to join the NMR group in the Structural Biology Department, to explore the structure and function of proteins of therapeutic interest. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying NMR-based strategies to support small molecule and large molecule drug discovery programs. Day-to-day activities and responsibilities include protein sample purification and handling, protein characterization, hands-on NMR data acquisition and analysis to assess ligand/protein interactions, as well as protein-protein interactions involved in regulating biological pathways. Our protein NMR facility includes dedicated 800, 600 and 500 MHz spectrometers, Linux workstations and access to the Central California 900 MHz spectrometer.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a related biophysics field. Five years of technical experience in the area of protein NMR and protein biochemistry are required. Knowledge and hands-on expertise in protein expression, purification, NMR sample preparation and protein NMR spectroscopy are required. Experience in the application of NMR methods in a drug discovery environment and/or the study of membrane proteins is preferred.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated a sustained record of productivity as supported by a strong publication record.
