The Weizmann Institute of Science family, the Department of Science Teaching and the Science and Technology in Junior High School group mourn the death of Dr. Marcel Frailich Kaploon, who was murdered in the terror attack on Kibbutz Beeri.
Marcel, a PhD graduate of the department, was a central pillar in the Science and Technology in Junior High School group - developing learning and teaching materials and actively participating in the professional development of teachers.
We send our sincere condolences to her family in this difficult time and join them in their grief.
The prize committee decided to award this year's prize to two winners:
Tanya Nazaretsky, who recently completed her doctoral studies under the supervision of Giora Alexandron at the Weizmann Institute of Science, and recently started a postdoc in Tanja Käser's lab at EPFL, Switzerland.
Rotem Israel-Fishelson, who recently completed her doctoral studies under the supervision of Arnon Hershkowitz at Tel Aviv University, and recently started a postdoc in David Weintrop's laboratory at the University of Maryland, USA.
Congratulations and best wishes for continued success in their academic endeavors to both the award winners and the other excellent candidates who submitted an application.
