The project aims to promote marine and climate literacy among the high-school biology community and to bring contemporary marine biology research to the classroom. To this end, learning and teaching materials were developed in collaboration with leading scientists in the field, science education searchers and biology teachers.
The teaching resources are available to biology teachers on the project website, and include theoretical background material for teachers, class presentations, articles for students, and suggestions for hands-on and online research activities. The development of the pedagogical resources is accompanied by seminars and workshops for teachers and by research aiming to improve and adapt the resources to the biology classroom.
The project is funded by the Institute for Environmental Sustainability. (IES).
