Alumni in the spotlight, alongside Facebook Isarel CEO
Weizmann alumni were center stage at the International Women’s Day event hosted by the Israeli Friends Association of the Weizmann Institute.
The keynote speaker was Adi Soffer-Teeni, CEO of Facebook Israel, and the event highlighted pioneering women in the biotech and high-tech sector.
Other presenters included Dr. Liat Goldshaid-Zmiri, alumna and CEO of Luminera, an aesthetic medicine company which was recently acquired by Allergan Aesthetics. (Another two Weizmann Institute alumni, Dr. Dadi Segal and Dr. Eran Goldberg, founded Luminera also.)
Liran Szlak, a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, discussed her work as co-founder of Mehamemet – Cyber Education Center, a non-profit organization that promotes girls’ participation in STEM fields. Rosalie Lipsh-Sokolik, a PhD student in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences, discussed her challenges and goals as an ultra-Orthodox woman in the sciences, and the need to engage the next generation of her community.
