The 2018 Israel Prize for Industry will be awarded to Yehudit (Dita) and Yehuda Bronicki, founders of the Ormat alternative and renewable energy-technology group. According the the Prize committee, the Bronicki family have managed to combine vision and execution in a complex and ever-changing reality, and have left their mark on groundbreaking innovations in local and global industry, in addition to impacting technological education, promoting women, and cultivating innovation.

Dita and Yehuda Bronicki have been friends with the Weizmann Institute of Science for many years, supporting various causes in science and science education. Yehuda Bronicki has serves as a member of the Board since 1984, first as member of the Board of Governors and the Executive Council and currently as a member of the Executive Board.

The Israel Prize is an award handed out by the State of Israel and is generally regarded as the state’s highest cultural honor. It is presented annually, on Israeli Independence Day, in a state ceremony in Jerusalem, in the presence of the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Knesset, and the Chief Justice.
