Setting printers

Connecting to printers for Linux users

  1. Fedora and OpenSuSe users download the attached script to /tmp directory.
    • Open the terminal and run the commands below (copy and paste):
      su -
    • Enter the root password when you asked for a password.
    • Run the commands below (copy and paste):
      cd /tmp
      unzip remote_cups_srv_connect.zip
      chmod +x remote_cups_srv_connect.sh
      ./remote_cups_srv_connect.sh
  2. Ubuntu users download the attached script to /tmp directory.
    • Open the terminal and run the command below (copy and paste):
      sudo -i
    • Enter your local user password, and run the following commands (copy and paste):
      cd /tmp
      unzip remote_cups_srv_connect.zip
      chmod +x remote_cups_srv_connect.sh
      ./remote_cups_srv_connect.sh
  3. To select a default printer, you have to do the following for every local user (if there are mulitiple users on the computer). Note that NMRPrint is located on the 2nd floor, CPColor on the 7th floor, and CBP-Prt-Schmidt in the Schmidt building.
    • Open the printer configuration applet:

    • Right click on the printer you would like to set as the default and select "personal default printer" option:

    • Click "OK"

    • Close the printer settings applet.
