Living and active matter
The most striking example of a non-equilibrium system is life itself. We draw on concepts from bifurcation theory, statistical physics, and hydrodynamics to study many-body living systems. Earlier work explored collective behaviors in active matter such as animal herds, and human residential dynamics. Current research focuses on biological systems.
