In the last decade accumulating evidence have demonstrated that the 20S proteasome can function in a free, uncapped form, leading to the processing and degradation of partially unfolded proteins. Various functional roles have been associated with this activity, including neuronal communication, antigenic peptide production, regulation of protein function through post-translational processing and extracellular activities.

However, up until now a community effort to advance this field of research or a platform for exchanging knowledge and ideas was lacking. Therefore this meeting will be specifically dedicated to the independent activity and regulation of the 20S proteasome. We believe that such an event will lead to a supportive and collaborative community and advancement of the research.

During the meeting, there will be social events and round-table discussions generating a fruitful platform for establishing international ties and novel collaborations.

Talks will be selected from abstracts
