Conference Tour

The tour will focus on the religious aspect of Jerusalem - past and present. Jerusalem, the cradle of western religions, is a fascinating place to “search / learn / tour".
 

Tour Details

We will leave the Weizmann Institute around noon, and head toward Jerusalem. On the way to Jerusalem we will point out places of interesting history as part of a short intro of the history of Jerusalem.

Once we arrive to Jerusalem, we will head to a overview over the basin of the old city & try to understand better how Jerusalem became a religious centre for Christians, Jews and Muslims all over the world. From there, we will head to visit the old city itself.

Before we enter the old city itslef we will first visit Mt. Zion and its sites - The  Room of last Supper and King David Tomb and maybe the Dormition Church /Hagia Zion, built by Kaiser Wilhelm II, toward the end of the 19th century.

We will enter the old city and walk via the Jewsih quarter, The Cardo - a Roman street built at the beginning of the millennium and the colourfull market toward the rooftop observation point overlooking the four quarters & Temple Mt. Our next stop would be the Western Wall (“Kotel” in Hebrew) - the holiest place for Jews.

Then we will head toward the “Via De La Rosa” and follow this famous street to the entrance of Church of Holy Sepulcher - the place that marks the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

From there we will head toward one of the gates of the old city, and walk out onto Jerusalem on the 19th and 20th century. We will walk along one the main routes and some interesting sites along it toward the restaurant in which we will have dinner and end our tour.
