WELCOME

The ability to communicate is essential for all living cells and organisms. Over the past 10 years, exciting advances have been made in the area of cell-cell communication. One form of communication is through the release of vesicles that carry bio-active molecules to transfer information for coordinating social activities and for modulating their environment. This is an emerging area in cell biology which encompasses many biological systems, including plant and animal biology, insect development, infectious disease, and cancer.

The “Extracellular vesicles: friends and foes” meeting aims to bring together worldwide investigators from different disciplines and areas of interest to present their newest findings concerning the biogenesis of extracellular vesicles, and how these dock onto target cells, release their cargo and exert their function in physiological and pathological conditions. This meeting will thus be a great opportunity for scientists from diverse backgrounds to learn about cutting edge vesicle science and form new collaborations.

Specifically, the meeting will focus on:

  • Extracellular Vesicle Cargo and Biogenesis
  • Cell-Cell Communication via Vesicles
  • Extracellular Vesicles in Diseases
  • Biotechnology and Novel Approaches in Extracellular Vesicle Research
