The 73rd Annual General Meeting of the International Board of the Weizmann Institute of Science will take place on November 7-11, 2021, in a unique digital setting.
The past year has proven that borders are becoming irrelevant. Information, ideas, values – and also pathogens – care very little about the geographic boundaries that we have erected to divide our world. Revolutions in various technologies, from semiconductors to AI to biomedical engineering, have changed the way we communicate, disseminate information (and sometimes misinformation), and overcome obstacles – together. And no other field has proved the borderless nature of our world more than science.
Over the past year, scientists from the Weizmann Institute and their counterparts from around the world came together to combat one of the most challenging pandemics of the modern era. Harnessing every technology available to them, scientists stepped up, worked together, and provided meaningful insights that helped improve disease modelling, testing and diagnosis, and vaccine and treatment protocols. Through these studies and many more, the scientists of the Weizmann Institute proved once again that human curiosity and the research it inspires truly have no limits.
Join us on November 7-11, 2021, for the 73rd Annual General Meeting of the International Board, where we will celebrate the triumph of science across a global landscape. During the sessions and events of the week, the Institute management will report on advancements in science and the daily life on campus. In addition, we will introduce outstanding scientists and their groundbreaking discoveries; inaugurate new centers, institutes, and facilities in the service of science; recognize unique collaborations with partners in Israel and around the world; confer the degree of Doctor of Philosophy honoris causa, the Institute’s highest honor, upon an exceptional group of individuals; and much more.
