Airports
There are two international airports in Stockholm – Arlanda (ARN) and Bromma (BMA). Arlanda is the most likely airport that you will fly into, Bromma being mainly domestic plus a few European/Scandinavian flights. Arlanda is situated 37 kilometres (23 mi) north of Stockholm, but has good connections to the city. Bromma is 7.4km west-northwest of downtown Stockholm and is the closest airport to the city.
Travel to/from Airports
Arlanda Express train runs every 10 minutes during peak times and every 15 minutes at other times. It takes 20 minutes to get to the Stockholm Central Station and costs around 300 SEK for a single ticket.
Flygbussarna the cheapest option for travel to Stockholm, there are two routes and many stops within the city, costs are 99 SEK online and 119 SEK at the ticket desk for a single ticket.
SL Stockholms local public transport service has a local train from Sky City in Arlanda, cheaper than the Arlanda Express but not as fast, although it is connected to the local train service (pendeltåg) if you wish to travel to the outskirts of Stockholm. SL also has busses, trams and subway trains which cover the whole of Stockholm and the suburbs, which can all be accessed through a prepaid ticket loaded onto the SL card. You need an extra ticket to travel to or from Arlanda on top of your regular ticket for Stockholm. SL is completely cash free and all fares must be paid for prior to boarding.
Taxis
Stockholm has a number of reliable taxi companies and some that are not so reliable. There have been many cases of taxis at Arlanda over-charging for trips into the city. If you already use Uber, it works quite well in Stockholm. Otherwise if you intend to take a taxi, book it beforehand with Taxi Stockholm and they will meet you in arrivals. If you don’t do either of the above, all the reputable taxi companies will give you a ‘fixed rate’ for your trip. Ask for a fixed rate to your destination before you get in the taxi, then check how much it will be and refuse to pay more than that. You can tip taxi drivers if you want to or you feel they have given good service, although fares in Stockholm are generally expensive, so it is not necessary.
Travel to Djurönäset – for those who sign up at registration
For those who arrive at Arlanda on the morning of the meeting we will provide a bus from Arlanda to Djurönäset. The bus will leave from a specified place at a specified time, more information will be sent in the coming weeks. The journey time by bus from Arlanda to Djurönäset is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Depending on the need, we may add additional busses form either Arlanda or central Stockholm. The bus journey from central Stockholm to Djurönäset is approximately 1 hour
For those who arrive in the days before the meeting, on the morning of the meeting we will provide a boat (for approximately 100-150 people) from the centre of the city to Djurönäset. The boat trip is approximately 2 hours long and you will get to see much of Stockhom from the water. To ensure that the boat arrives in time for lunch it will leave at a specified time, and we need people to sign up specifically for the boat.
For both the boat and bus options, please sign up at registration to join the group transportation to and from Djurönäset. You will be sent further information in the coming weeks.
If you are unable/do not want to use the group transport provided by the meeting organisers, you can take a regular bus from Slussen bus station with your SL card. The journey time is around 1 hour.
