In an effort to increase security and enhance the Institute’s readiness to potential cyber-attacks, we will update macOS versions on all Weizmann Mac computers. macOS security updates provide continuous protection to your work environment and keeps your Mac safe from potential attacks and risks.

Apple supports only the latest three major versions, currently 13,14 and 15. Each Mac on campus will get the most up-to-date version supported for it by Apple.

Macs operating on a version that is no longer supported by Apple are not protected and constitute a real danger to the securing of our network. Thus, in the future, such computers will not be allowed to connect to the institute's core systems.

Features

Critical macOS (major) updates and security (minor) updates are distributed monthly and will be available for installation beginning the 3rd Wednesday of every month for 7 days.

You will be able to install the updates manually during these days, and We recommend you perform the installation beforehand to avoid interference with your work.

On the 4th Tuesday of every month, at 17:00, computers without those security updates will receive them automatically, and the computer may restart without prior notification to the user.
