The Weizmann Institute of Science’s Martin S. Kraar Observatory was designed to allow researchers and students easy access to a modern, astronomical instrument, residing on campus.
Gifted high school students attending astronomical courses at the Davidson Institute, as well as high school students performing astrophysics projects as part of their enhanced matriculation exams also use this facility.
The observatory is also used as a test bed for new, experimental imaging devices being developed by the experimental astrophysics group, as well as for testing new instrumentation to evaluate its utilization in scientific research.
